Liturgy of the Word for Children The Liturgy of the Word for Children, welcomes children Kindergarten through Grade 6. The program enables children to accompany their parents to Mass on Sundays, but allows them to experience the Word at their own level. No registration is needed, nor is there any fee. The children leave in procession and quietly go to one of the classrooms where they listen to the Readings, sing the Psalm Response, and stand to sing the Alleluia and listen to the Gospel. The C.L.O.W. leader conducts a dialogue homily with the children, by asking questions such as "What did you hear in those readings?" Finally, they pray the Creed and offer the Prayers of the Faithful. The presenters are trained volunteer parishioners, who love children and want to help them understand the readings which their parents are hearing at Mass. Parents are encouraged to occasionally participate with their children in the liturgy. We welcome anyone wishing to become involved. Liturgy of the Word for Children at O.L.P.H. is celebrated every Sunday at the 9:30 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. Masses, September through May. For more information or to become involved through volunteerism, please contact Theresa at 480-874-3710. |
